Pocket Number-17: Ikon Gallery, Oozells Square, Brindleyplace

WP_20151129_17_39_48_ProIkon Gallery is a contemporary art gallery in Brindleyplace. Its housed in a grand Victorian redbrick building that was formerly a school.

On the Sunday afternoon that I visited Ikon the usual train service to Birmingham wasn’t running and so I got the replacement bus up from Oxford to Leamington Spa and from there took the local stopping train to Birmingham New Street station.

The journey took double as long  as normal and so WP_20151129_17_33_45_ProI arrived at Ikon half an hour after the gallery’s closing time.

However, I was fortunate and I found that Pippa was still at the gallery’s gift shop.

Pippa manages the gift shop at Ikon and was just closing up.

WP_20151129_17_37_43_ProI explained about [25] Pockets of [Birmingham] and Pippa gave the assemblage a brochure for Black Country Voyages and sent me to see anybody at BCV.
