Kate made finding narrowboat Frederick easy by telling me that all Frederick’s cruises start and finish at Gas Street Basin – so I could stay right where I was.
I found a wharf-side pub with a window overlooking the canal and had a curry and a pint while I waited for Frederick to make his appearance. Before long Frederick passed right by my window.
I found where it moored and waited while the boat’s cargo-hold of birthday-party booze cruisers disembarked.
Jenny was busy tidying up the boat to make it ready to receive the next group of passengers but gave me a moment to explain about [25] Pockets of [Birmingham]. She then gave the assemblage a business card and sent me to find Val at Canalside – the very pub I had just emerged from.
