Pocket Number 3: The Castle Hotel, Oldham Street

WP_20160522_12_41_13_ProThe Castle Hotel’s a 200+ year-old, tile-faced, wood-panelled boozer. There’s a front room snug, a courtyard and a back-room space that’s used for live music events.

A selection of local ales are on tap and I tried a pint of Dizzy Blonde – a Robinsons pale ale brewed in Stockport.

WP_20160522_12_56_20_ProMax was pulling pints behind the bar. I explained to him about 25 Pockets of Manchester and he gave the assemblage a Trooper beer pin (Trooper is another Robinsons ale) and then sent me to go see the gorgeous ladies at Gullivers 🙂 – Castle Hotel’s sister venue just across the road.

WP_20160522_12_47_30_ProMax told me that Castle Hotel and Gullivers have the same owners and so many of the bar staff used to work together.

He wrote on the frame for me to tell them: “to do some work – PLEASE!! Especially you, Holly!” He made sure I emphasised: “PUH-LEASE!!
