The “Quad” is an enclosed quadrangle of paths and grass by the Gower Street entrance to University College London.
I encountered Samuel and two friends sitting on the steps leading up to the university’s neoclassical Main Building. Samuel is from Switzerland and studying as a postgraduate at UCL.
Samuel (I swear) gave the montage his (I swear) empty old wallet – having bought a new one earlier that day.
He then sent me to visit a baker at Beigel Bake, Brick Lane and said I should try a beigel there.
